SEG is an affiliated club with Equestrian Australia. This affiliation allows SEG to have the support of EA to use their dressage tests, have access to their Judges, to get grants and support from Equestrian Australia.

First Riders join their local club - Samford Equestrian Group to ride in the Club events.  You do not need to have an EA Membership to join SEG but it is highly recommended to join EA for the insurance coverage alone.

Equestrian Australia is the governing body that regulates pleasure riding in Australia.  It covers the following disciplines – Dressage, Para Equestrian, Jumping Eventing, Vaulting, Show Horse, Carriage Driving & Interschool.

EA has several types of membership and you join with your local state branch – Equestrian Queensland. You can join here.

EA Membership Structure

Equestrian Australia recognises that everyone joins our sport for a different reason and that not everyone intends to compete at the highest level of the sport.

Recreational

For Club members who only wish to compete at club days. These riders like to compete at the lower levels of the sport with their horse and friends. They also like to go riding out on trial rides.  A Recreational member can participate at events within the club environment – Club Days. Equestrian Queensland Recreational member will now be able to ride with safety with insurance coverage 24/7 included in this membership.

Club Dressage Events provide competition up to the level the club is providing at that event ( ie Prep, Prelim, Novice & Medium)

Horses do not have to be EA registered.

Club days can be for SEG Members only or can also include Participant and/or Competitive members as stipulated by the (SEG) OC – Organising Committee for that event.

Participant

Aimed at those who are actively riding at the grass roots of the EA equestrian Disciplines ( Dressage, Jumping, Eventing, Show Horse, Vaulting, Driving & Interschool) You can ride at any club up to the Novice level. You do not receive up grading points.

Participant Events: EQ Participant & Competitor members may compete at these events up t Novice. No grading points are acquired for horses in these events, and EA horse registration is not required. Many EQ affiliated clubs will hold Club & Participant events, where both club members and EQ Participant & Competitor members may compete.

Levels – Prep, Preliminary, Novice & EA Para-Dressage

Riders must be a minimum EA Participant Level and EA Horse registration is encouraged but not enforced.

EA 24/7 Insurance provided for Participant members.

Competitive

Only EQ Competitor members may enter these the Competitive classes, and horses must be EA registered, all registered owners of the horses must hold current membership and the horse must have the relevant performance cards.

Horses needs to have an EA Full Horse Registration (life time) and a competition license required (included in cost of life time membership)
